Blurpe Technologies Ltd (“Blurpe”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal data responsibly.

Blurpe is an AI-powered recruitment platform that helps businesses discover, assess and connect with talent. Our services support employers, recruitment agencies, job seekers, candidates, freelancers and creators through features such as talent matching, CV and portfolio review, AI-assisted interviews and suitability reports.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store and protect personal data when you visit our website, create an account, use our platform, submit professional information, participate in an interview or purchase a subscription.

Our primary legal jurisdiction is Nigeria. We handle personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 where applicable.

By using Blurpe, you acknowledge that you have been given the opportunity to read this Policy. Where a particular processing activity requires your consent, we will seek it as required by law. Simply using Blurpe does not constitute blanket consent to every possible use of your personal data.

2. Who We Are

Blurpe is operated by:

Company: Blurpe Technologies Ltd Address: The Reserved Golf Estate, Port Harcourt, Nigeria Privacy and general enquiries: hello@blurpe.co Customer support: support@blurpe.co Website: https://blurpe.co

Depending on the activity, Blurpe may act as a data controller, determining why and how personal data is processed, or as a data processor acting on behalf of an employer, recruitment agency or other customer. Our responsibilities depend on the specific processing activity and applicable contractual arrangements.

3. Who This Policy Applies To

This Policy applies to:

Employers and recruitment agencies may have their own privacy obligations when they collect or use candidate information. Where an employer or agency determines how your information is used for its recruitment process, you may also need to consult its privacy notice.

4. Personal Data We Collect

The personal data we collect depends on how you use Blurpe.

4.1 Account and contact information

We may collect your name, email address, account details, login and authentication information, organisation details and other information you provide when registering or communicating with us.

4.2 CVs, portfolios and professional information

When you create a profile or submit information for a professional opportunity, we may collect:

  • CVs and resumes.
  • Employment history and professional experience.
  • Skills, qualifications and certifications.
  • Education and training information.
  • Portfolio links, work samples and project history.
  • Professional biographies and profile descriptions.
  • Job preferences, availability and application information.
  • Other professional information you choose to provide.

Please avoid including sensitive personal information in your CV or portfolio unless it is necessary for the relevant purpose and can lawfully be processed.

4.3 Employer and recruitment information

For employers and recruitment agencies, we may collect organisation details, job descriptions, role requirements, hiring criteria, candidate search queries, recruitment preferences, application statuses and feedback supplied through the platform.

4.4 AI interview and assessment information

Blurpe offers AI-assisted matching, interviews and suitability reports. Depending on the feature you use, we may process:

  • Interview questions and responses.
  • Audio or video supplied or captured through an interview feature.
  • Written answers and other assessment materials.
  • Professional information analysed against role requirements.
  • Interview summaries and assessment results.
  • Candidate matching results and suitability reports.
  • Feedback or corrections submitted by users.

Where audio or video is processed, the information may contain your voice, image and other personal information you disclose during the interview. We will not describe this information as biometric data unless the relevant technology actually processes it as such.

Before participating in an interview, review any feature-specific notice explaining what is captured, how it is used and whether recordings are retained.

AI-generated assessments may be incomplete or inaccurate. They should not be treated as definitive statements about your competence or suitability for a role.

4.5 Payment and subscription information

If you purchase a paid subscription, we may process your subscription plan, billing status, transaction references, payment history and relevant billing information.

Blurpe uses Paystack for payment processing. Depending on the payment method and integration, Paystack may process payment details directly. We will not claim that Blurpe never stores particular payment information until our actual payment integration has been verified.

Payment transactions may also be subject to Paystack's applicable terms and privacy notice.

4.6 Technical and usage information

We may process technical information associated with use of the platform, such as device and browser details, IP address, access logs, feature interactions, error information and usage events.

The use of cookies, analytics identifiers and similar technologies will depend on the tools deployed on our website and platform. See Section 12.

4.7 Communications

We may retain information contained in enquiries, customer support requests, feedback and other correspondence you send to us.

We do not use candidate information for additional AI-model training as a separate purpose under our stated product policy. We do, however, process relevant information to deliver the AI matching, interview and assessment features you use. Our AI and infrastructure providers may process data to provide those services under their applicable terms. We will verify the relevant provider settings and contractual terms rather than make unsupported claims about their independent data practices.

6. Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on the basis appropriate to the purpose and circumstances of the processing. This may include:

  • Contract: Where processing is necessary to provide a requested service or take steps before entering into a contract.
  • Legal obligation: Where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law.
  • Consent: Where valid consent is the appropriate basis.
  • Legitimate interests: Where processing is necessary for a legitimate interest and the relevant legal requirements are satisfied.
  • Other lawful bases: Where recognised by applicable law.

We assess the relevant basis for each material processing activity. We do not treat account registration as blanket consent for unrelated processing.

Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it as permitted by law. Withdrawal does not invalidate processing lawfully carried out before withdrawal. We may also retain or process certain information where another lawful basis permits or requires it.

7. AI-Assisted Recruitment

Blurpe uses AI to support talent discovery and recruitment. Depending on the feature, our systems may compare candidate information with job requirements, analyse interview responses, generate summaries and produce suitability reports.

7.1 AI is an assistive tool

AI outputs are generated from the information available to the system and may contain errors, omit relevant context or fail to recognise a candidate's full experience.

A match score, ranking, summary or suitability report is not a guarantee of a candidate's abilities, future performance or suitability for a role.

Employers and recruitment agencies should independently review relevant information before making recruitment decisions.

7.2 Hiring decisions

Blurpe's AI features are intended to assist recruitment workflows. Employers and recruitment agencies remain responsible for their hiring decisions and must comply with applicable employment, equality and data protection laws.

Our stated approach is that employers make the final hiring decisions and AI assists them. This does not mean that every possible use of AI is automatically exempt from rules on automated decision-making. We will assess the actual operation of each feature against applicable legal requirements.

Where the law requires additional notice, meaningful human intervention, explanations or other safeguards, the relevant parties must comply with those requirements.

7.3 Candidate information and interviews

Candidates should be given appropriate information about the use of AI in their recruitment process. Where a feature records or processes audio or video, any relevant recording, retention and use details should be disclosed before the interview.

Candidates may contact hello@blurpe.co with privacy questions or use the rights described in Section 10.

8. How We Share Personal Data

We may disclose personal data in the following circumstances.

8.1 Employers and recruitment agencies

Candidate profiles and professional information may be made available to employers and recruitment agencies through Blurpe's search and recruitment features.

Access is intended to support recruitment. Employers and agencies must use the information lawfully and for authorised purposes. Candidates should understand that their profiles may be discoverable by employers and agencies using Blurpe.

8.2 Service providers

Blurpe uses technology and service providers to operate the platform, including:

  • Supabase, for database or related platform infrastructure.
  • n8n, for workflow automation.
  • Paystack, for payment processing.

We may also use AI, hosting, communications, analytics, security or other service providers as required to operate our services. The specific data each provider receives depends on the integration and workflow involved.

We will seek to ensure that service providers handling personal data are subject to appropriate contractual and legal protections.

8.3 Legal and safety purposes

We may disclose information where required by law or valid legal process, or where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, protect users, enforce our Terms or establish or defend legal claims.

8.4 Business transactions

If Blurpe undergoes a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.

8.5 At your direction

We may share information when you direct us to do so or authorise disclosure through a platform feature.

We do not sell personal data as a product under this Policy. Any material change to our sharing practices will be assessed and disclosed as required by law.

9. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may store or process personal data in countries outside Nigeria. The actual locations depend on the hosting, AI and other services used by Blurpe.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will assess the applicable legal requirements and implement appropriate safeguards.

We will not claim that all data remains in Nigeria or that a particular international transfer mechanism is in place without verifying the relevant provider locations, contracts and transfer arrangements.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Be informed about the processing of your personal data.
  • Request access to personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of personal data in appropriate circumstances.
  • Request restriction of certain processing.
  • Object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis.
  • Request portability of eligible personal data.
  • Exercise rights relating to automated decision-making where applicable.
  • Lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.

To submit a privacy request, contact hello@blurpe.co. Explain the nature of your request and provide enough information for us to identify the relevant account or data. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

We will handle requests within the time limits and conditions required by applicable law. Some information may be retained where legally required or where another lawful basis applies.

If an employer or recruitment agency is responsible for the relevant processing, we may direct you to that organisation or assist with the request, depending on our role and legal obligations.

You may also contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or another relevant supervisory authority where applicable.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

Our intended approach is to retain account and candidate information until the user deletes it, subject to applicable legal requirements and other lawful retention needs.

You can delete your account through the account settings where that functionality is available.

Deleting an account does not necessarily mean that every copy of every item is erased immediately. We may retain certain information where required by law, necessary to resolve disputes, needed to maintain security or retained in backups until the ordinary deletion process applies. Information already lawfully shared with employers or recruitment agencies may also remain in their systems, subject to their own obligations.

Different categories of information, including payment records, interview data and backups, may be subject to different retention requirements. We will apply appropriate retention and deletion practices consistent with applicable law.

12. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Blurpe's use of cookies, analytics tools and similar technologies is subject to the tools deployed on the website and platform.

Such technologies may support essential platform functions, account sessions, preferences, security or usage analysis.

We will provide appropriate information and obtain consent where required for non-essential cookies or similar technologies. You may also be able to manage certain settings through your browser or any cookie controls we make available.

The precise cookie categories, analytics tools and consent controls used by Blurpe are being verified. We will update this section and provide any required cookie controls to reflect the actual implementation.

13. Data Security

Blurpe recognises the importance of protecting personal data. We will take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure as required by applicable law.

The specific security controls currently implemented by Blurpe have not been confirmed for this Policy. We therefore do not make specific claims about encryption, security certifications, access-control configurations or security testing here.

Users should protect their account credentials and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorised access. We will handle security incidents and any required notifications in accordance with applicable law.

14. Children's Data

Blurpe is designed for professional recruitment and talent services. Users must meet the minimum age and capacity requirements imposed by applicable law.

Because the applicable age requirements may vary, Blurpe does not establish a single minimum age in this Policy. We will apply the relevant legal requirements to our services and any users who may be minors.

Do not submit another person's personal information unless you have the necessary authority and a lawful basis to do so. If you believe personal data has been submitted inappropriately, contact hello@blurpe.co.

15. Third-Party Websites and Services

Blurpe may link to or integrate with third-party services. Those services may operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

We encourage you to review relevant third-party notices before providing personal information directly to those providers. Our handling of data processed through an integration remains subject to our role, applicable contracts and the law.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our services, technology, business practices or legal obligations.

Where appropriate, we will notify users of material changes through the platform, by email or by another reasonable method. Where applicable law requires renewed consent or additional notice, we will take the necessary steps.

The “Last updated” date at the beginning of this Policy will show when the latest version was published.
